How to buy cryptocurrency through a payment provider

  1. In the main menu, tap Deposit → Bank card.
  2. Select the asset you want to buy. There are some specifics when buying USDT.
  3. At the top, select the payment currency in the You buy in field.
  4. Enter the purchase amount in cryptocurrency or the selected currency within the provider's limits. Use the arrow below the amount to switch between them.
  5. Tap Buy — you'll be redirected to the Alchemy Pay or Mercuryo payment provider page.

Cryptocurrency is usually credited to your Walt balance within a few minutes. However, it may sometimes take longer, for example, if the payment is being processed by your bank.

Note about purchases: Walt only provides the interface for purchasing crypto with fiat. The purchase itself is processed by third-party payment providers, Alchemy Pay and Mercuryo, in accordance with their respective terms of use.

How to buy cryptocurrency through Mercuryo

  1. Select a payment method.
  2. Choose how quickly you want to receive the cryptocurrency. The fee depends on the selected speed.
  3. Tap Pay to confirm the purchase.
  4. If you're buying cryptocurrency for the first time, complete verification with the provider.

How to buy cryptocurrency through Alchemy Pay

  1. Select a payment method.
  2. Check the fee.
  3. Tap Proceed to payment to confirm the purchase.
  4. If you're buying cryptocurrency for the first time, complete verification with the provider.

Which provider will process my purchase

The available payment provider depends on your country and the purchase terms. You’ll see the provider’s name in the interface during the purchase process.

Which payment methods are available

Available payment methods depend on the provider and your region. They usually include:

  • Visa and Mastercard bank cards;
  • digital wallets;
  • other payment methods supported by the provider.

All available payment methods are shown on the provider's page.

The provider may not accept cards issued in Russia, Belarus, Tajikistan, or Mongolia. Your card-issuing bank may also have its own payment restrictions.

If your card isn't supported, try another payment method or another way to buy cryptocurrency.

Is verification required to buy cryptocurrency

Yes. To buy cryptocurrency through a third-party provider, you need to complete two verification checks:

  1. Extended verification in Walt. Learn more about verification in Walt.
  2. Verification with the provider you use for the purchase.

The provider may request additional information, such as your residential address or source of funds.

You have 30 minutes to complete verification. During this time, the purchase amount is reserved in your bank account.

  • If you complete verification within 30 minutes, the purchase will be completed automatically.
  • If you don't, the reservation will be canceled and the amount will be returned to your bank account. You can try the purchase again.

How to complete verification with Alchemy Pay

Alchemy Pay will ask you to:

  • provide your name, gender, date of birth, and nationality;
  • upload an identity document, such as an ID card, passport, or driver's license;
  • complete face verification (Face ID).

What are the specifics of buying USDT

There are several specifics when buying USDT:

  • Fee-free purchases through Mercuryo. You can buy USDT without a fee. Learn more.
  • Bank card purchases may be processed through USDC on the Solana network. In this case, you buy USDC, and Walt automatically converts it to USDT and credits it to your balance. You'll see an informational message about this before your first purchase.
  • Fees and limits are the same as for a regular USDT purchase.
  • USDC to USDT conversion is automatic — you don't need to take any additional steps.
  • USDC is usually converted to USDT at a 1:1 rate. If the difference between the exchange rates exceeds the allowed threshold, the current market rate is applied. Learn more about the conversion rate and limits for USDC to USDT conversion.

Are there any regional restrictions on buying cryptocurrency

Yes. Buying cryptocurrency may not be available in some countries depending on the token and provider.

Can users from Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine buy cryptocurrency

Yes. If you're a citizen of Russia, Belarus, or Ukraine but live in another country supported by the provider, you can buy cryptocurrency.

What to do if my payment is declined

  1. Check your balance. Make sure you have enough funds in your bank account.
  2. Try another payment method. The provider or your card-issuing bank may have declined the selected payment method.
  3. Contact the provider's support team to find out why the payment was declined:
    1. Mercuryo — through the chat on the Mercuryo website or at support@mercuryo.io;
    2. Alchemy Pay — through the support form.

What to do if I don't receive my cryptocurrency

First, check whether the funds were charged from your bank account.

If they weren't charged — simply try the purchase again.

If you didn't complete the payment, your bank may have temporarily reserved the purchase amount. It may appear as charged or unavailable in your balance, but the funds haven't actually been charged. The reservation is usually released automatically within 5–10 minutes, and in rare cases, within 2 hours. If the funds haven’t been released after this time, contact your bank’s support team.

If the funds were charged but the cryptocurrency wasn't credited, contact our support team and provide:

  • the purchase amount;
  • the date and time of the payment;
  • a screenshot of the payment or receipt, if available.

We’ll look into the issue and contact the provider if necessary. The provider makes the final decision regarding the transaction in accordance with its terms.
